Introduction
The Hifikepunye Pohamba Campus of the University of Namibia, based in Ongwediva Town, and originally founded in 1913 by Finnish missionaries, as Ongwediva College of Education. In addition to teaching facilities, it also maintained a university library, a computer, and arts center, and student residences. Effective April 1, 2010, the college entered the Faculty of Education at the University of Namibia. Situated in the vibrant town of Ongwediva in Oshana Region, is a unique Heritage site, which is a block away from the Maroela Mall Shopping Centre, and in close proximity to some of the best restaurants and hotels in town; Hifikepunye Pohamba Campus offers remarkable hands-on learning opportunities, research, services, and social and leisure activities to complement your academic pursuits. Since the merger of the four Colleges of Education into the University of Namibia, Hifikepunye Pohamba (HP) Campus has been one of UNAM’s campuses hosting the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences, and that is responsible for the training of Namibian future teachers in pre-and lower primary education, upper primary and secondary education in areas of Mathematics and Physical Science. Although the Campus is offering pre and upper primary education qualifications, it is, however, envisioned to become a center of excellence in the training of teaching Mathematics and Sciences Education.

You will also have access to internet and Wi-Fi facilities, which is provided for free to all the students, staff, and visiting students and scholars.
Facilities & Stats
Home to a student population of over 4000 students, the campus provides ambient space for studying, by offering students various lecture halls, rooms, and labs to either read or do practicals.
Although relatively old, the Library is exclusively for education students that boast some of the latest books in education. Wi-Fi internet connection is available in all buildings and open spaces. The campus main hall has a seating capacity of 600 people and has recently been upgraded. This hall continues to attract attention as a heritage site for its design and construction. At the moment, the hall is used for lecturing, examination purposes, and for conferences and meetings. The halls on campus can also be rented out for community events such as meetings, weddings, graduations, performances, and others for an affordable fee when classes are on recess or during weekends. The Campus has some sports facilities: a football field, and others. In terms of security, all venues are guarded.
Other facilities include a kiosk, open lawns, and a 600-rooms hostel facility on campus, with also staff housing on campuses.
